Former Armenia national team striker Sargis Adamyan is leaving Cologne after the expiration of his contract with the German club.

The 32-year-old footballer spent four years in Cologne’s system. According to German media, during that period the Armenian forward earned around €2 million under one of the club’s most discussed contracts in recent years.

After the end of the season, Cologne officially said goodbye to Adamyan during a special ceremony. Despite a difficult period with the first team, the club gave the player a warm farewell, highlighting his professionalism, attitude to work and contribution to the team.

Adamyan made 60 appearances for Cologne’s first team, scoring 4 goals and providing 7 assists. The Armenian forward spent his final season with the reserve team, which competes in the Regionalliga. There, Sargis showed strong productivity: in 21 matches, he scored 10 goals and registered 7 assists.

According to the German press, Adamyan does not plan to end his career. Moreover, there is still interest in him from clubs in Germany. The reasons include not only his statistics in the reserve team, but also the reputation of a professional that the player confirmed throughout the past season.

It is noted that the Armenian forward attracted the attention of other teams with his exemplary attitude and 17 goal contributions in 21 Regionalliga matches. For many clubs, this could become a serious argument when considering his candidacy.

Adamyan’s family is also closely connected with Cologne. The footballer’s wife, Anna Adamyan, recently said on Instagram that, if possible, she would like to stay in the Cologne area. This may play a role in the choice of a new club if the striker receives options to continue his career not far from his current place of residence.

Sargis Adamyan played for the Armenian national team, making 36 appearances, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists. He remains one of the most well-known Armenian footballers to have played in Germany. After leaving Cologne, Adamyan will become a free agent and will be able to choose the next stage of his career independently.
