Today, April 13, the 2025 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships conclude in Bratislava. On the final day, two Armenian athletes will compete for bronze medals — Samvel Grigoryan (82 kg) and Artur Aleksanyan (97 kg).
Aleksanyan earned a direct shot at bronze after losing in the semifinals. Grigoryan, on the other hand, had to go through the repechage round, as he was defeated in the round of 16 by Gurban Gurbanov of Azerbaijan, who advanced to the final.
In the repechage, Samvel Grigoryan defeated Islam Aliev of Russia with a score of 4-3 and will now face Georgia's Gela Bolkvadze in the bronze medal bout.
Artur Aleksanyan’s opponent for bronze will be Alex Szőke from Hungary.
The finals begin at 19:00 Yerevan time.
