Rudolf Garboyan wins bronze at European Boxing Championships

Armenian boxer Rudolf Garboyan won bronze in the 50 kg category at the 2026 European Championships in Sofia.

Garboyan lost his semifinal to Russia’s Bair Batlaev by unanimous decision, 0–5. He had previously won two bouts at the tournament, defeating opponents from Portugal and Israel.

Garboyan’s bronze was Armenia’s second and final medal at these European Championships. Elida Kocharyan had earlier taken bronze in the 65 kg category.

Marat Mikalyan (75 kg) also came within one win of a medal on September 23. He lost his quarterfinal to England’s Callum Makin by split decision, 2–3.
