The Champions League matchday on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, proved less explosive than Tuesday’s goal-filled spectacle, yet still quite productive — even if it lacked major upsets.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich recorded their third consecutive victories, joining Arsenal, PSG, and Inter at the top of the standings.
Athletic Bilbao finally earned their first points of the campaign, while Liverpool bounced back after four straight defeats. In that match, Florian Wirtz registered his first goal contributions for the Reds after 11 goalless appearances. Hungary’s captain Dominik Szoboszlai added a goal and an assist before traveling to Yerevan for his national team duty.
Wednesday’s Matchday 3 Results
Real Madrid — Juventus 1:0
Goal: Jude Bellingham
Man of the Match: Arda Güler
Despite a tight tactical battle and numerical advantages in certain moments, the outcome was decided by flashes of individual brilliance. Vinícius’s clever shot, Bellingham’s predatory finish, and Courtois’s one-on-one save determined the result of this hard-fought match.
Galatasaray — Bodø/Glimt 3:1
Goals for Galatasaray: Osimhen (2), Akgün
For Bodø/Glimt: Helmersen
Man of the Match: Victor Osimhen
The hero of the evening was Victor Osimhen, ably supported by Yunus Akgün. Okan Buruk’s side celebrated their second straight win after losing in the opening round. Bodø/Glimt once again played attractive football but couldn’t cope with the home team’s talisman.
Athletic Bilbao — Qarabağ 3:1
Goals for Athletic: Guruzeta (2), Navarro
For Qarabağ: Leandro Andrade
Man of the Match: Gorka Guruzeta
First points of the season for Athletic. Ernesto Valverde’s men showed great character after conceding first. Gorka Guruzeta scored twice, bringing his tournament tally to three goals.
Chelsea — Ajax 5:1
Goals for Chelsea: Guiu, Šutalo (own goal), Fernández, Estevão, George
For Ajax: Weghorst
Man of the Match: Jamie Bynoe-Gittens
Enzo Maresca can be pleased: three points, sparkling attack, and a chance to give minutes to youngsters. Chelsea were ruthless in front of goal and exuded growing confidence. Ajax, meanwhile, must urgently halt their slump.
Atalanta — Slavia Prague 0:0
Man of the Match: Charles De Ketelaere (Atalanta)
Though goalless, the match was full of action. Atalanta dominated possession, while Slavia defended well and threatened on the counter. Visiting goalkeeper Jakub Marković produced a string of saves, and De Ketelaere was the creative engine for the hosts.
Eintracht Frankfurt — Liverpool 1:5
Goals for Liverpool: Ekitiké, Van Dijk, Konaté, Gakpo, Szoboszlai
For Eintracht: Kristensen
Man of the Match: Virgil van Dijk
Liverpool controlled the game completely and extended their lead after halftime. The hosts had to admit the obvious — the Reds were simply too strong on the night.
Sporting — Marseille 2:1
Goals for Sporting: Catano, Alisson Santos
For Marseille: Paixão
Man of the Match: Alisson Santos
Sporting showed great determination, overturning the game after the break. Marseille dominated the first half, but the hosts found the strength to rally and clinched victory in the closing minutes.
Monaco — Tottenham 0:0
Man of the Match: Guglielmo Vicario (Tottenham)
An intense and entertaining scoreless draw. Monaco came closest to winning, but Vicario stopped everything that came his way. Spurs took home a well-earned point thanks to their keeper’s heroics.
Bayern Munich — Club Brugge 4:0
Goals: Karl, Kane, Luis Díaz, Jackson
Man of the Match: Lennart Karl
Bayern are in magnificent form: three wins out of three, a strong run in all competitions, and now a dominant victory over Brugge. After winning the Der Klassiker and extending Vincent Kompany’s contract, the team looks nearly unstoppable.
