The FIFA Club World Cup 2025, currently underway in the United States, is gaining momentum. Four matches of the first round have already been played, and the favorites are beginning to show their strength.
Particularly impressive was Paris Saint-Germain’s debut, as they thrashed Atlético Madrid 4–0 in Pasadena. Goals from Fabián Ruiz, Vitinha, Senny Mayulu, and Lee Kang-in sealed the victory for the French side. The Champions League winners fielded nearly their best lineup — with only Ousmane Dembélé missing from the squad. All key players started for Atlético, but Diego Simeone’s side couldn’t avoid a heavy defeat. Today at 06:00 AM Armenia time, Botafogo will face tournament hosts Seattle Sounders in Group B.
In Group A, Palmeiras and Porto played to a goalless draw in New Jersey. It was a fairly balanced game, though the Brazilians came closer to winning, especially in the closing minutes. However, just like in the earlier group match between Inter Miami and Egypt’s Al Ahly, there were no goals for the fans to celebrate.
