Noah President on Victory Over AZ Alkmaar and the Role of the Fans

The president of Yerevan’s Noah, Vardges Vardanyan, commented on the team’s victory over Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League playoff round.

The match took place at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan. Despite the cold weather and late kickoff time, the stadium was completely full. Noah secured a narrow 1–0 victory.

According to Vardanyan, the key factor behind the success was the support of the fans.

“You believed. In winter, at such a late hour, the stadium was packed. The players simply brought your belief to life. You motivated me to invest even more in Armenian football, and motivated our team to work even harder. Noah’s victory earned Armenia +0.500 points, and we now sit in 33rd place. If we manage to maintain this position, the Armenian Cup winner will start its European campaign from the Europa League for the first time. Thank you to each of you. Together we will celebrate many more days like this, because you want it and you believe in us. Forward, with God’s help! Forward, Armenia! Forward, Noah!” the club president stated.

The victory brought Armenia an additional +0.500 points in the UEFA coefficient rankings. The country currently occupies 33rd place. If this position is maintained, the Armenian Cup winner will begin its European journey in the Europa League for the first time.

The return leg will take place on February 26 in Alkmaar, where it will be decided whether Noah can advance and continue its run in the tournament.
