FC Porto have reached an agreement with Al-Ahli for the transfer of Spanish midfielder Gabri Veiga, according to reputable insider Fabrizio Romano.
The deal will cost the Portuguese club €15 million plus bonuses. All parties — both clubs and the player — have given their consent. Veiga is expected to undergo a medical soon. According to Romano, the deal was personally finalized by Porto president André Villas-Boas.
With this signing, Porto acquire a new attacking midfielder, and the club’s reported interest in Armenia national team star Eduard Spertsyan is likely no longer relevant. Previously, Spertsyan was considered one of the key candidates to strengthen the team’s creative line.
The 23-year-old Veiga spent last season in the Saudi Pro League, where he scored 7 goals and provided 5 assists. Now, he returns to Europe to continue his career at a higher level.
