Pasha Khudoyan Reaches the Final of the U15 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships

The 2026 U15 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships started on May 20 in Samokov, Bulgaria. On the opening day of competition, wrestlers from seven weight categories took to the mat, while Team Armenia kept medal hopes alive in several divisions.
The main result of the day for the Armenian team was Pasha Khudoyan reaching the final in the 44 kg weight category. The Armenian wrestler began the tournament confidently, defeating his opponent from Romania 9-0. He then beat a Ukrainian wrestler 5-1, before edging a Russian opponent 7-6 in a tense semifinal bout.
In the final, Khudoyan will face Azerbaijani wrestler Pasha Khalil Aslan. The decisive bouts from the first day of the tournament will take place on May 21.
Results of Armenian Wrestlers
In the 38 kg category, Gor Karapetyan lost his opening bout to an Azerbaijani opponent 0-9. However, the Armenian wrestler kept his medal hopes alive and will continue his bronze-medal campaign through the repechage on May 21. He will face opponents from Bulgaria and Russia.
In the 41 kg category, Sevak Manukyan reached the semifinals. On his way to that stage, he confidently defeated a Polish wrestler 9-0 and then overcame a Georgian opponent 2-0. In the semifinal, Manukyan lost to a Russian wrestler and will now compete for bronze.
In the 48 kg category, Migran Tatoyan lost his opening bout to a Russian opponent in a close contest, 6-7. Thanks to his opponent’s further progress, Tatoyan received a chance to continue in the repechage. To earn the right to compete for bronze, he will need to overcome opponents from Georgia and Azerbaijan.
In the 52 kg category, Vardan Sahakyan also reached the semifinals. The Armenian wrestler started the tournament strongly, defeating his opponent from Finland 10-0 and then beating a Georgian athlete 8-0. In the semifinal, Sahakyan lost to a Russian wrestler 3-5 and will fight for bronze on May 21.
In the 57 kg category, Araik Khemchyan lost his opening bout to a Georgian opponent and ended his participation in the tournament.
In the 62 kg category, Alex Gevorgyan had a strong tournament day and reached the semifinals. He defeated a Russian wrestler 7-2 and then convincingly beat opponents from Moldova and Israel, both by 9-0. In the semifinal, Gevorgyan lost to a Georgian wrestler 0-8, but still kept his bronze-medal chances alive.
As a result, after the first day of the U15 European Championships, one Armenian representative reached the final, while five more Armenian wrestlers will continue their fight for bronze medals.
