Paris — Karen Khachanov advances to the Round of 16 at the Masters

Tennis player of Armenian descent, Karen Khachanov (ATP 14), has successfully reached the Round of 16 at the Paris Masters. In a tense match, Khachanov defeated Brazilian João Fonseca (ATP 28) in three sets — 6:1, 3:6, 6:3.

It was the first-ever meeting between Khachanov and Fonseca, and Khachanov claimed his first victory against the young Brazilian. After a strong start, the Russian of Armenian heritage experienced a slight dip in the second set but managed to regain control in the decisive one, sealing the win.

In the next round, with a quarterfinal spot at stake, Khachanov will face world No. 6 Alex de Minaur from Australia. The match is expected to be one of the highlights of the tournament’s schedule.
