One of the most loyal foreign players in Armenian football, Oleg Polyakov, has announced his retirement from professional football. The 35-year-old midfielder’s final club was Yerevan-based Urartu.

Polyakov spent six seasons with Urartu. During that period, he made 163 appearances, scored 16 goals and provided 18 assists.

The Russian midfielder achieved the biggest successes of his career with the Yerevan club. In the 2022/23 season, Urartu completed a domestic double, becoming Armenian champions and Armenian Cup winners.

At the time of his retirement, Polyakov is Urartu’s record holder for appearances among foreign players.

Before moving to Armenia, Polyakov played exclusively in Russia. He is best remembered there for his spell with Armavir.

Polyakov personally announced his decision to retire in a video published on Urartu’s social media channels. He thanked the club, his teammates and the supporters for their backing throughout his years in Armenia.
