The son of Urartu’s head coach Dmitry Gunko, 20-year-old attacking midfielder Artemiy Gunko, has officially become a player of the Yerevan-based club.
Artemiy Gunko holds Armenian citizenship and has already been called up to Armenia’s U21 national team. A product of Spartak Moscow’s academy, he played for Dolgoprudny’s Kosmos in Russia’s Second Division last season. In 29 matches for Kosmos, he scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists.
Artemiy’s move to Urartu is intriguing not only from a professional standpoint but also due to the family connection, as the team’s head coach is his father, Dmitry Gunko. This adds extra intrigue to the young footballer’s career at this stage.
Thus, Urartu strengthens its squad with a young and promising midfielder who already has experience at the senior level and is eager to establish himself in Armenian football.
