The FIFA U-20 World Cup 2029 will be held in Armenia and Georgia. Both countries will host a tournament of this level for the first time in their history.
The Football Federation of Armenia called the event unprecedented for national football, emphasizing that hosting the youth World Cup will be an important step for the development of football infrastructure and the popularization of the game in the country.
“For the first time, our country will host a major football tournament of global scale, which demonstrates the great trust of the international community. This is an invaluable gift for Armenian fans, lovers of Armenian football and, of course, young footballers, who will have the opportunity to feel the spirit of the World Cup on their own soil and dream of great victories,” the Football Federation of Armenia said in a statement.
The federation also noted that hosting the tournament will be a shared victory for the region and invited fans to prepare for welcoming the world’s strongest youth national teams.
“Welcome to the World Cup, welcome to Armenia and Georgia. Let us prepare together to host the strongest youth teams in the world,” the FFA added.
It should be noted that plans to build and modernize several stadiums in Armenia were linked specifically to the possibility of hosting this tournament. Now these projects are receiving additional momentum, and preparations for the world championship are becoming a reality.
