Rostov’s cup captain Khoren Bayramyan scored his first goal of the season in the Russian Cup 6th round match against Pari NN (4–1). The Armenian midfielder took to the field sporting a new look — a striking mustache that seemingly brought him good luck.
The victory allowed Rostov to take third place in the group and advance to the playoffs of the Regions Path. In this season’s Russian Cup, the 33-year-old Bayramyan has already played 5 matches, while in the Russian Premier League he has seen only 13 minutes of action — in the game against Dynamo.
That same day, several other Armenian footballers also featured in Russian Cup matches:
Ugochukwu Iwu (Rubin) played 61 minutes against Akhmat. The regular time ended 3–3, but Kazan won in the penalty shootout.
Valeriy Tsarukyan (Pari NN) came on in the second half of the match against Rostov.
Pavel Gorelov, former Armenia U21 international, played the full match for Orenburg against Zenit, though his team lost 0–6.
Yegishe Melikyan attended the Russian Cup match to watch Bandikyan and Sevikyan in action.
