The head coach of the Armenian national team, Yeghishe Melikyan, attended the Russian Cup Round of 16 match between CSKA Moscow and Akron Tolyatti (3:2), which took place on October 21.
Melikyan closely followed the actions of CSKA midfielder and Armenia U21 player Artem Bandikyan, as well as Akron winger and national team member Edgar Sevikyan.
The 20-year-old Bandikyan started the game for CSKA and played all 90 minutes. Sevikyan came on in the 67th minute to strengthen Akron’s attack.
It is likely that Melikyan is considering calling up Bandikyan to the senior national team. At CSKA, the player usually operates as a defensive midfielder, while with Armenia’s U21 team he has also been tried as a right-back.
Yeghishe Melikyan spoke with Artem Bandikyan after the match. The head coach of the Armenian national team learned about the player's game plan and qualities and discussed his potential for playing for the national team.
