Armenian national team boxer Narek Hovhannisyan successfully held his first fight in the professional ring.
The 27-year-old athlete, after a long and intense amateur career, moved to the professional ranks and secured a unanimous decision win over Kenneth Sene (4-3) in Plant City, USA.
The last time Hovhannisyan represented the Armenian national team was at the end of June this year, when he became the winner of the international Irakli Abashidze Memorial Tournament in Batumi.
His move to the professional ranks could mean that the Armenian team will be left without his participation at the upcoming 2025 World Championship. At least for now, there is no information that Armenia has joined World Boxing — the organization preparing to host its first World Championship in Liverpool.
Throughout his amateur career, Narek Hovhannisyan won numerous medals at international tournaments and was considered one of the leaders of the Armenian national team.
