Narek Hovhannisyan Close to Transfer to Slovak Club

18-year-old winger of Armenian club BKMA, Narek Hovhannisyan, may soon change leagues. According to insider Suren Meliksetyan, who is close to the player’s camp, the footballer is one step away from joining Slovak side Dunajská Streda. Negotiations are in the final stage, and an official agreement may be signed soon.

Interest from the Slovak club became known a month ago. At that time, insider Suren Meliksetyan reported that Dunajská Streda had submitted an official offer to BKMA. Since then, discussions have continued, and the deal is now nearing completion.

In the 2024/25 season, Narek Hovhannisyan emerged as one of the revelations of the Armenian Premier League. The winger played 28 matches, scoring 5 goals and providing 6 assists, playing a key role in BKMA’s historically successful campaign. The team finished sixth in the league — their best-ever result in the top tier.

In addition to his club performances, Hovhannisyan also impressed on the international stage. He scored twice for Armenia’s U19 national team and was later called up to the U21 squad. Today, June 3, he is set to play against Cyprus.

Dunajská Streda is one of the top clubs in Slovakia and regularly competes in European competitions. They finished 4th in the league last season, earning a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers. A move to such a club could be a major step in Hovhannisyan’s career development.

If the transfer is finalized, Narek will become the next Armenian footballer to join a club in Slovakia. Notably, Tigran Barseghyan, a four-time Slovak league champion, is already playing successfully there, while Abov Avetisyan recently helped his team win promotion to the top division by winning the First League.
