The 26-year-old Russian forward Ivan Ignatiev, who spent only half a season in the Armenian championship, managed to establish himself as one of the most prolific players in the tournament. In 16 matches for "Urartu", he scored 13 goals and left the league as its top scorer.
It was previously reported that "JS Kabylie" had been in negotiations to sign Ignatiev. The transfer was initiated by the Algerian club’s head coach, Josef Zinnbauer, who had previously worked with the Russian striker at Moscow's "Lokomotiv". The German specialist is well aware of the forward’s capabilities and seemingly sees him as a key player in the new team's attack.
Ivan Ignatiev was absent from "Urartu’s" last friendly match in Qatar, further fueling speculation about his potential departure. Despite having a contract with the Armenian club until the summer of 2025, the parties agreed on the transfer. The financial details of the deal remain undisclosed.
Ignatiev is a graduate of the "Krasnodar" academy. Over his career, he has also played for "Rubin" and "Lokomotiv". His move to "Urartu" was one of the most notable events in the Armenian championship, and now the Russian forward will try his luck in the Algerian league.
