Lokomotiv Moscow and Armenian national team midfielder Nair Tiknizyan will miss the final round match of the Russian Premier League against Akron. The player did not travel with the team to Samara.
According to his agent Alexander Klyuev, the decision was made by Tiknizyan himself.
Earlier, the player had already voiced his dissatisfaction with the situation at the club. After the 29th-round match against CSKA, in which he was once again left on the bench, Tiknizyan emotionally stated that he felt like “the last piece of crap” and intended to seek a transfer in the summer. He noted that he hadn’t played in three consecutive matches despite being injury-free and included in the squad. He also admitted being disappointed by the lack of trust and expressed a desire to move on.
"Today I'm not even a part of the rotation. I have to accept that with dignity and move forward," Tiknizyan said at the time.
Now the situation appears to have reached its climax: Nair has personally declined to participate in the final match of the season. His future at Lokomotiv remains uncertain, and it seems likely that a parting with the club will occur in the coming weeks.
"I haven’t been removed from either the training process or the upcoming match. I had a conversation with the management where I expressed my position regarding my future. They accepted it, so I’m not going to the game. But no one has suspended me, and there is no conflict with the club or the management," said Nair Tiknizyan in an interview with Sport Express.
