Armenia to allocate 600 million drams for Hrazdan Stadium renovation ahead of Francophonie Games

The Armenian government has approved an allocation of 600 million drams to renovate the running track and related infrastructure at Hrazdan Stadium. The venue is being prepared for the Francophonie Games, which will take place in Armenia from July 23 to August 1, 2027.

The contract will be awarded to GTS Construction under an urgent procedure. Laying the track’s rubber surface and preparing its base are not covered by the approved amount; those works will be procured separately.

According to a technical assessment, the stadium will be able to accommodate around 21,566 spectators during events, subject to restrictions on seating. The north and south stands may be filled to half capacity, while the west stand may be filled completely. Only the first 11 rows of the east stand may be used. The upper tiers will remain closed.

Hrazdan Stadium is privately owned. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport has therefore been instructed to develop, within three months, the terms for using the venue in state programmes over the next 20 years. Beyond the Francophonie Games, the stadium is expected to host Armenian championships, international competitions and athletics training.
