Spanish refereeing team appointed for Armenia vs Hungary match

Spanish referees will officiate the match of the 5th round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers between Armenia and Hungary, which will take place on November 13 in Yerevan.
The match will be refereed by 42-year-old José María Sánchez. This season, he has officiated matches in La Liga, as well as two Champions League games: Bayern – Chelsea (3:1) and Marseille – Atalanta (0:1). Notably, Sánchez awarded a penalty in both matches.
It is worth mentioning that he already has experience officiating in Yerevan: in 2023 he refereed the Armenia – Turkey (1:2) match, showing 9 yellow cards.
Throughout his career, Sánchez has shown an average of 5.17 yellow and 0.21 red cards per match, while the average number of penalties he awards is 0.29 per match.
