2025 Youth World Weightlifting Championships: Day 2 Results
Weightlifting

On May 2, the second competition day of the Youth (U20) and Junior (U17) World Weightlifting Championships took place in Lima, the capital of Peru. For the first time in the tournament’s history, events are being held simultaneously on two platforms. A total of 8 medal sets were contested that day.

Team Armenia won its first medal of the tournament: Alexandra Grigoryan (55 kg) claimed a small gold medal in the clean & jerk (116 kg) and took bronze overall with a total of 204 kg.

The standout of the day was the Philippines' Albert Delos Santos, who delivered a sensational win in the men's 67 kg U20 category with a total of 309 kg (134+175) — 51 kg more than his previous official best. After recovering from a serious back injury and missing last year's championship, Delos Santos beat China's favorite Jingwen Yang in the final attempt. His victory marked the second consecutive gold for the Philippines, following Jhodie Peralta's win in the girls' 55 kg U17 division.

Athletes from China (2), Egypt, Kazakhstan, Venezuela, and Mexico also won gold medals that day.
