The Armenia U21 national team suffered a defeat in the 5th round of the EURO 2027 qualifiers, losing to Montenegro 1–2.
The only goal for the Armenian side was scored by Vyacheslav Afyan, who found the net with an accurate strike after strong attacking pressure from Armenia. For Montenegro, Vladimir Perišić (from the penalty spot) and Balša Mrvaljević scored.
Despite the final result, Armenia delivered a bright and aggressive match, creating more chances near the opponent’s goal, but failed to convert their advantage.
The match was also special for two players: Finn Geragusyan and David Kirakosyan made their U21 debuts.
Armenia U21 will play its next match on November 18 against Sweden U21 — also in Yerevan.
Armenia U21 squad:
Hayk Ghazaryan — Suren Tsarukyan, Petik Manukyan, Mark Avetisyan, Mher Tarlioyan — Hamlet Sargsyan (62’, David Kirakosyan), Karlen Hovhannisyan (Artur Askaryan) — Vyacheslav Afyan (85’, Misak Hakobyan), David Hakobyan(79’, Artur Garibyan), Narek Hovhannisyan — Edik Vardanyan (62’, Finn Geragusyan).
After 5 rounds, Armenia U21 stands 6th in Group E with no points earned.
