Montenegro head coach Mirko Vučinić has spoken about the condition of his team ahead of the Nations League Matchday 4 fixture against Armenia. According to the coach, the demanding schedule has led to accumulated fatigue among the players, making the selection of the starting lineup particularly difficult.
The match against Armenia will be Montenegro’s fourth game in 11 days. Vučinić has used 22 players in the previous three matches, but despite the heavy workload, many of them are still pushing for a place in the starting XI.
“This match is special because we spent a lot of energy in the previous three games. I have a problem — everyone wants to play. The motivation is so high that even tired players want to be on the pitch. For me, this is the most difficult match in terms of choosing the starting 11,” Vučinić said.
The Montenegro coach also urged his team not to pay attention to the excitement surrounding their recent results. After three rounds, the Falcons have won all three matches and sit alone at the top of Group C2.
Vučinić noted that the victory in the first match against Armenia must now be left in the past. On September 28 in Yerevan, Montenegro won 3-2, scoring the decisive goal in the 89th minute.
“Every match is different from the previous one. I think we were better in Yerevan and deserved the three points. But now we have to forget about that. Every day brings a new challenge and requires you to prove your level again,” the head coach added.
Montenegro midfielder Marko Janković also highlighted the physical condition of both teams. In his view, the players’ ability to maintain a high tempo could become one of the key factors in the match.
Despite possible rotation, Montenegro intend to extend their winning streak and maintain their 100% record in the group.
The Montenegro vs Armenia match will take place on October 5 in Podgorica and will kick off at 22:45 Yerevan time.
