Inter have won the 2025/26 Coppa Italia. In the final at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Cristian Chivu’s side confidently defeated Lazio 2-0 and claimed their second trophy in a matter of days after winning the Serie A title.
The Milan club effectively decided the outcome of the match in the first half. In the 14th minute, Inter took the lead after an unfortunate own goal by Adam Marusic, who turned the ball into his own net following a corner from Federico Dimarco.
Before the break, the Nerazzurri doubled their advantage. Lautaro Martinez finished off a quick Inter attack after a fine move involving Denzel Dumfries.
In the second half, Lazio tried to get back into the game, but Inter controlled the tempo and did not allow their opponents to change the course of the final. Chivu’s team calmly protected the result and went on to win the Coppa Italia for the 10th time in the club’s history.
Mkhitaryan came on in the second half and lifted another trophy
For Armenian fans, the final was especially important because of Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian midfielder came on in the 67th minute and helped Inter see out the victory.
According to SofaScore, Mkhitaryan received a rating of 6.8.
For the 37-year-old footballer, this is already his sixth trophy with Inter. This season, Mkhitaryan and the Milan club completed a domestic double in Italy — first winning Serie A and now adding the Coppa Italia.
The current season could be the last in Mkhitaryan’s career. If the Armenian midfielder does decide to retire, he is doing so at a very high level — with two trophies in Italy and an important role in one of the country’s strongest teams.
Inter complete a powerful domestic double
The victory over Lazio once again underlined Inter’s dominance in Italian football. After winning the league title, Chivu’s side did not slow down and confidently added the Coppa Italia to their collection.
For Lazio, the defeat was especially painful. The Roman club missed its final chance to qualify for European competitions through the Coppa Italia and ended the season without a trophy.
