Mkhitaryan to stay at Inter: new contract already agreed

Henrikh Mkhitaryan will continue playing for Inter Milan. The Armenian midfielder will sign a new one-year contract with the club, according to Fabrizio Romano.

According to insiders, an agreement between the parties was reached around two weeks ago. The new deal will run for one season and will include a salary reduction for the player.

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio revealed an interesting detail about the negotiations. According to him, Mkhitaryan personally handles all matters related to his contract, without the involvement of an agent.

“Mkhitaryan negotiates personally, without an agent. He is on a different level,” Ausilio said in an interview with Supernova.

Thus, the situation surrounding the future of the 37-year-old Armenian footballer has effectively been clarified. Until recently, it was not ruled out that the recently completed season could be the last of Mkhitaryan’s professional career, but now he will remain at one of Italy’s strongest clubs for at least another year.

It was previously reported that Mkhitaryan agreed to the format of the new deal after talks with the club’s management and coaching staff. Inter highly value his experience, professionalism, influence in the dressing room and ability to remain useful to the team even at the later stage of his career.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been playing for Inter since 2022. During this time, he has become an important part of the team and helped the Nerazzurri win several trophies, including the Serie A title.
