The Saudi Pro League Matchweek 9 clash between Al Ahli, featuring Armenia national team midfielder Eduard Spertsyan, and Al Nassr, led by Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, has been rescheduled for March 6, 2027.
The match was originally scheduled to take place on October 15, 2026, in Jeddah. However, Saudi Pro League officials decided to change the date. The venue remains unchanged, with the game set to be played at Al Inma Stadium in Jeddah.
According to the Saudi Pro League's official website, the postponement was caused by logistical and organizational considerations, as well as the need to ensure that teams have the minimum required recovery period between matches.
A total of three Matchweek 9 fixtures have been affected. In addition to Al Ahli vs. Al Nassr, the matches between Al Riyadh and Al Hilal and between Al Ittihad and Al Shabab have also been rescheduled. Both fixtures will now take place on December 19, 2026. The remaining matches of the round will be played according to the original schedule.
As a result, Armenian football fans will have to wait almost five months to see another encounter between Spertsyan and Ronaldo.
The two players have previously faced each other at international level. In September 2025, Spertsyan and Ronaldo took the field in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match between Armenia and Portugal in Yerevan. Portugal secured a convincing 5–0 victory, with Ronaldo scoring twice.
This season, the 41-year-old Portugal captain has made seven appearances in the Saudi Pro League, scoring four goals.
Meanwhile, Eduard Spertsyan has recorded two goals and three assists in eight appearances. The Armenian midfielder continues to play an important role in Al Ahli's attacking lineup.
The first club-level meeting between the two players in the Saudi championship is now expected to take place in the spring of 2027.
