Martirosyan and Danielian Defeated World Champions: Results of the 2025 FIDE World Blitz Championship

The 2025 FIDE World Blitz Championship has concluded in Doha, Qatar. The tournament brought together the world’s strongest chess players and became one of the most representative events in history: the Open tournament featured 252 players from 64 countries, including 166 grandmasters, while the Women’s event had 140 participants from 42 countries.
Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen won the Men’s World Blitz Championship. In the final, he defeated Uzbekistan’s Nodirbek Abdusattorov. Armenian players Aram Hakobyan and Haik Martirosyan also finished among the prize winners. Notably, during the tournament Martirosyan managed to defeat the newly crowned world champion Magnus Carlsen.

In the Women’s World Blitz Championship, victory went to Kazakhstani grandmaster Bibisara Assaubayeva. The best result among Armenian players was achieved by Elina Danielian, who scored 8.5 points out of 15 and finished in 38th place. During the tournament, Danielyan also recorded an impressive win over the future world champion.
