Marat Achemyan – 2025 European Champion in Greco-Roman Wrestling (Cadets)

Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Marat Achemyan has become the European Champion among U17 athletes in the 51 kg weight category. The championship is taking place from June 9 to 16, 2025, in Skopje, North Macedonia.
In the final bout, Achemyan confidently defeated Russia’s Rizvan Kairbekov with a score of 10:0. Remarkably, Marat won all his matches early, without conceding a single point to his opponents. His path to gold was as follows:
Round of 16: victory over a Hungarian wrestler — 9:0
Quarterfinal: victory over a Moldovan representative — 8:0
Semifinal: victory over an Azerbaijani wrestler — 10:0
Final: victory over the Russian — 10:0
Marat Achemyan's total score at the tournament was 27:0, highlighting his absolute dominance in his weight class.
This is the first gold medal for Team Armenia at the 2025 European Championships for Cadets. Earlier, Armenian wrestlers had won two silver and one bronze medal.
