Malkhas Amoyan (77 kg) confidently defeated his opponent representing Iran, Alireza Abdevali, and reached the final of the world championship. In the final, his opponent will be the reigning Olympic champion in this weight class, representative of Japan Nao Kusaka. Kusaka and Amoyan were the main favorites of the tournament, and therefore they were assigned to different grids in advance, so that at best they would meet only in the finals, as happened. They met each other twice.
They first clashed at the Under-23 World Cup in 2022, where Malchas defeated the Japanese with a score of 9.:5. The second bout took place in the semifinals of the Olympic Games, where Nao had already won with a score of 3:1.
The snapper passed through a difficult grid. In the 1/16 finals, he defeated an Indian wrestler ahead of schedule, in 1/8 he almost beat the representative of Ukraine ahead of schedule, and in 1/4 he was stronger than Kazakh Demeu Zhadraev in an equal fight. In the semifinals, Nao's opponent was the sturdy Hungarian Robert Fritsch, whom the Japanese also defeated and, one might say, made it to the finals of the tournament without any problems.
Amoyan also passed a good grid. In the very first fight, he got an uncomfortable American Kamal Bey. He passed a Polish wrestler in 1/8, and defeated a Turkish wrestler in 1/4 finals. In the semifinals, Alireza Abdevali, a young Iranian, was waiting for him, who had previously passed the vice-world champion San Suleymanov (Azerbaijan). Malkhas easily defeated the Iranian, having a clear advantage.
Malkhas's path to the final:
1/16: Malkhas Amoyan (Armenia) - Kamal Bey (USA) 2:1
1/8: Malkhas Amoyan (Armenia) - Mateusz Bernatek (Poland) 10։0
1/4: Malkhas Amoyan (Armenia) - Ahmet Yilmaz (Turkey) 3:1
1/2: Malkhas Amoyan (Armenia) - Alireza Abdevali (Iran) 5:1
Let Nao reach the final:
1/16: Nao Kusaka (Japan) - Aman Aman (India) 8:0
1/8: Nao Kusaka (Japan) - Igor Bychkov (Ukraine) 7:0
1/4: Nao Kusaka (Japan) - Demeu Zhadraev (Kazakhstan) 4:2
1/2: Nao Kusaka (Japan) - Robert Fritsch (Hungary) 3:1
