25-year-old Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Malkhas Amoyan (77 kg) has been named among the contenders for the title of the most dominant wrestler of 2025 according to United World Wrestling (UWW). The nomination is a logical result of his brilliant season, which he completed without a single defeat.
After winning a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games—where Amoyan lost only to the future champion, Japan’s Nao Kusaka—he remained undefeated. In 2025, he claimed gold at the European Championships, the Poland Open, and the World Championships, demonstrating overwhelming superiority over his opponents.
Malkhas Amoyan’s 2025 Results:
European Championships 2025 — Gold
4 wins, total score: 24:4
Poland Open 2025 — Gold
5 wins, total score: 26:5
World Championships 2025 — Gold
5 wins, total score: 30:4
In the final, he secured a spectacular victory over Olympic champion Nao Kusaka (Japan) with a score of 10:1.
Amoyan became one of the main contenders for this prestigious title thanks to his consistency, dominance on the mat, and victories over top-ranked opponents.
