Malkhas Amoyan has once again etched his name into the history of Greco-Roman wrestling. At the 2025 European Championships, the Armenian wrestler claimed his fourth consecutive continental gold medal, and his path to the title was voted the tournament's best moment by fans.
In a poll conducted by United World Wrestling, 37% of participants voted for Amoyan's performance. He surpassed even the team champions, Azerbaijan (30%), as well as Hungary’s Dávid Losonczi (19%) and Bulgaria’s Kiril Milov (14%).
The 2025 European Championships marked Amoyan’s first major competition since winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. Yet the break had no effect on his form — the Armenian wrestler dominated on the mat, delivering confident victories against top-level opponents, including three World Championship medalists.
Malkhas Amoyan’s Road to Gold:
Round of 16: defeated Mateusz Bernatek (Poland) — 9:0
Quarterfinal: defeated Alexandru Solovei (Moldova) — 7:2
Semifinal: defeated Hayk Mnatsakanyan (Bulgaria) — 5:1
Final: defeated Ramaz Zoidze (Georgia) — 3:1
Once again, Amoyan has confirmed his status as one of Europe’s elite Greco-Roman wrestlers.
