Chess World Cup: all quarterfinal pairings have been determined in Goa

n the Indian state of Goa, the FIDE World Cup 2025 round of 16 has concluded, as a result of which all the quarterfinal participants have been determined.

The quarterfinal bracket is as follows:

Sam Shankland (USA) — Andrey Esipenko (Russia)

Javokhir Sindarov (Uzbekistan) — Jose Martinez (Mexico)

Nodirbek Yakubboev (Uzbekistan) — Alexander Donchenko (Germany)

Wei Yi (China) — Arjun Erigaisi (India)

The first quarterfinal games are scheduled for 17 November, with the rounds starting at 13:30 local time.

For Armenian fans, the round of 16 turned out to be unsuccessful: Armenia national team member Gabriel Sargissian, as well as US-flag-playing grandmasters of Armenian origin Levon Aronian and Samuel Sevian, ended their fight for the World Cup.
