In the first leg of the Russian Cup quarterfinals, Krasnodar claimed a confident 3:1 home victory over Orenburg, securing a solid advantage ahead of the second match.
The visitors started the game more actively and managed to open the score. In the 16th minute, Maksim Savelyev finished the attack with a precise shot inside the penalty area — 0:1. However, Orenburg’s lead was short-lived: just five minutes later, Danila Kozlov equalized, capitalizing on a defensive mistake.
In the second half, Krasnodar increased the tempo and became more threatening in attack. The hero of the match was John Córdoba, who came off the bench. The Colombian forward scored twice late in the game, demonstrating calm finishing and impressive individual skill. His goals in the 78th and 88th minutes decided the outcome — 3:1 to the home side.
Notably, Armenian national team candidate Pavel Gorelov played the full match for Orenburg, actively fighting in midfield. Meanwhile, Krasnodar captain and Armenian national team midfielder Eduard Spertsyan missed the match, but his absence did not prevent his team from producing an effective and confident performance.
