Atlético Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement on the transfer of midfielder Conor Gallagher. The English footballer will continue his career in the Premier League, returning to his homeland after spending one and a half seasons in Spain.
Gallagher joined Atlético from Chelsea in the summer of 2024 and went on to make 77 appearances for the “Colchoneros” across all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists. Now, the 25-year-old midfielder is set to begin a new chapter of his career in London.
Tottenham have officially announced the signing of Gallagher. The England international has signed a long-term contract with the club lasting 5.5 years. According to sources, the transfer fee amounted to around €40 million.
The player himself did not hide his emotions after the move:
“I’m very happy and excited to be here and to take the next step in my career at such a great club. I wanted to become a Tottenham player, and fortunately the club wanted the same. Everything happened very quickly, and I’m ready to get out on the pitch as soon as possible.”
Spurs head coach Thomas Frank spoke highly of the new signing:
“Conor is a top-class midfielder we’ve worked very hard to bring in. He’s still young but already has huge experience in the Premier League, La Liga, and with the England national team. His leadership, intensity, pressing ability, and goal threat will significantly strengthen our squad.”
