From May 22 to 24, Stockholm will host the annual Congress of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The event brings together representatives from national federations around the world to discuss key issues related to the development of ice hockey.
Armenia will be represented at the Congress by a delegation consisting of the President of the Ice Hockey Federation of Armenia, Vahram Sargsyan, and the organization’s General Secretary, Aram Sargsyan.
The Armenian side will pay particular attention to the following topics:
▪️ Selection of the host country for the 2026 World Championship (Division IV) — Armenia will participate in this tournament; for reference, the 2025 World Championship was held in Armenia;
▪️ A possible expansion of the number of teams in Division IV — Armenia could face new opponents.
The IIHF Congress is traditionally an important platform for making strategic decisions and enhancing international cooperation. Armenia, which is actively working on promoting ice hockey, is hopeful for positive changes that could open up new opportunities for participation on the global stage.
