On June 15, the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup began at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. In the tournament’s opening match, local side Inter Miami hosted Egypt’s Al Ahly. The game ended in a 0–0 draw but featured plenty of dangerous chances.
The Egyptian visitors started strongly and controlled the game in the first half. Before the tournament, Al Ahly had strengthened their squad by signing Egyptian national team players Trezeguet (formerly of Aston Villa) and Zizo (from fierce rivals Zamalek), as well as Tunisian midfielder Ben Romdhane from Hungary's Ferencváros. All three made their debut in this match, with Trezeguet particularly standing out — although he missed a penalty at the end of the first half.
After the break, Inter Miami improved their performance. The hosts played with their usual lineup featuring Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Sergio Busquets. Goalkeeper Oscar Ustari was the hero of the match, saving Trezeguet’s penalty and earning Man of the Match honors.
The Group A match ended in a 0–0 draw. The second game in this group will take place on June 16 at 01:00 Moscow time, when Porto faces Palmeiras.
