Karlen Hovhannisyan makes Akron debut

Armenia international midfielder Karlen Hovhannisyan has made his first appearance for Akron.
The 21-year-old came on in the 69th minute of the Russian Cup match against Lokomotiv Moscow. The game finished 0-0 in regulation time, with Akron winning the penalty shootout 5-4.
Hovhannisyan also took part in the shootout, successfully converting his team’s fourth penalty.
The Armenian midfielder’s move to Akron was officially announced on the morning of September 1, and just hours later he made his debut for his new club. Hovhannisyan joined the Russian side from Yerevan-based Pyunik for a transfer fee of €700,000.
Akron will play their next match in the Russian league on September 6 against Orenburg.
