Karen Khachanov reaches ATP 500 Beijing quarterfinals

Russian tennis player of Armenian descent Karen Khachanov continued his successful run at the China Open. In the second round, the world No. 26 defeated Slovakia’s Alex Molcan 7-5, 6-3. The match lasted 1 hour and 13 minutes.
Khachanov fired seven aces, committed no double faults, converted two of his three break points and did not allow his opponent a single break-point opportunity. It was his second victory in Beijing after a surprise win over world No. 5 Felix Auger-Aliassime.
In the quarterfinals, Khachanov will face the winner of the Hubert Hurkacz — Arthur Gea match. The quarterfinal is scheduled for October 4.
