Armenian national team representative in the 63 kg weight category, Karen Aslanyan, won the silver medal at the 2025 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship.
This was Karen’s first appearance in a final at the European or World Championships. Previously, he had won three bronze medals at the European Championships and one at the World Championship. Now, the 29-year-old Armenian has added a European silver to his collection.
In the final bout, Aslanyan was defeated by Turkey’s Kerem Kamal, who became a two-time European champion thanks to this victory. The result of the final sparked controversy due to questionable refereeing.
