Armenia women’s national football team captain Maral Artin has signed a contract with Saudi club Al-Hmmah.
The Armenian footballer’s new team competes in the top division of the Saudi women’s championship. Al-Hmmah finished fourth in the standings last season.
Artin did not play at club level over the past year. Before that, she spent a significant part of her career in Europe, including spells with clubs in Spain and France.
Maral Artin is a product of Bayern Munich’s academy. During her career, she has also represented Yerevan’s Alashkert before going on to play for French and Spanish clubs.
Artin has played for the Armenia national team since 2020 and is currently the team captain.
As a result, the captains of both Armenia’s women’s and men’s national teams — Maral Artin and Eduard Spertsyan — now play in Saudi Arabia.
