Armen Nikoghosyan’s early departure from the post of vice-president of the Football Federation of Armenia was presented as the completion of a certain stage of work. However, in essence, it is a resignation rather than simply a planned departure from the federation.
Earlier, Nikoghosyan had stated that he would not run in the 2026 elections to the FFA Executive Committee and would end his activity as vice-president. Nevertheless, according to Sportaran.com, his decision to leave the position ahead of schedule was not connected exclusively with those previously announced plans.
According to our information, Nikoghosyan’s resignation was the result of a whole complex of problems that had accumulated in Armenian football. Among them were the poor results of the national team, failures in youth football, extremely tense relations between the federation and almost all clubs, as well as growing dissatisfaction among fans.
Nikoghosyan’s difficult relationship with FC Noah became a separate factor. Recently, the interaction between the sides had taken on an openly tense and hostile character.
At the same time, the problems were not limited only to Noah. Disagreements over refereeing in the Armenian championship, as well as broader issues regarding the federation’s interaction with clubs, had long gone beyond one particular club and become a systemic problem for Armenian football.
According to Sportaran.com, it was the combination of these factors that may have influenced Armen Nikoghosyan’s decision to leave the post of FFA vice-president ahead of schedule.
