2026 European U20 and U23 Weightlifting Championships Day 3 Results: Two Golds and One Bronze for Armenia

The third competition day of the 2026 European U20 and U23 Weightlifting Championships concluded on October 14 in Durrës, Albania. Three sets of medals were awarded in the total classification, with Armenia emerging as the standout nation of the day after claiming two gold medals and one bronze.
Armenia's European titles came courtesy of Narek Grigoryan (75 kg, U20) and Alexandra Grigoryan (57 kg, U23). Both athletes dominated their respective weight categories, sweeping all three gold medals in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total.
Narek Grigoryan's performance was particularly impressive. In addition to winning the European title, he set a new European U20 record in the total with 322 kg (146+176).
Samvel Martirosyan (70 kg, U20) added another medal to Armenia's tally. The Armenian weightlifter topped the snatch standings with 139 kg, earning a small gold medal, before finishing third overall with a total of 296 kg to secure bronze.
In total, Armenian athletes collected eight medals during the competition day — six gold and two bronze — when counting medals awarded in the individual lifts as well as the total classification.
The day's third European title went to Ireland's Harrison McGrogan, who surprised many weightlifting fans by winning the men's U20 70 kg category.
The Irish athlete's victory was one of the most remarkable results of the day, as Ireland is not traditionally considered one of Europe's leading weightlifting nations. McGrogan achieved a total of 300 kg, edging Georgia's Revaz Mildiani by just one kilogram.
