On April 17, the fifth competition day of the 2025 European Weightlifting Championships took place in Chișinău, the capital of Moldova. On this day, medals were contested in two weight categories — men's up to 81 kg and women's up to 71 kg.
Athletes from Italy and Iceland claimed the gold medals. Italian Oscar Reyes became European champion for the third time in a row, while 23-year-old Icelandic lifter Eygló Fanndal Sturludóttir won her first title at the senior continental level — previously, she had twice won the European U23 Championships.
The silver medal in the men's 81 kg category went to Rafik Harutyunyan, representing the Armenian national team.
