Historic achievement: All Armenian clubs reach the second round of European qualification

The 2026/27 season has already earned its place in Armenian football history. For the first time, every Armenian club that entered European competition in the first qualifying round successfully advanced in its respective tournament.

Ararat-Armenia reached the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, while Alashkert and Pyunik progressed through the opening round of the UEFA Conference League. Armenia’s fourth representative, Noah, will begin its European campaign in the second qualifying round of the Conference League.

All Armenian clubs also reached the second qualifying round in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons. However, on both occasions, Armenia’s Champions League representative was eliminated in the first round and continued its campaign in the second qualifying round of the Conference League.

This time, for the first time in history, all three Armenian teams that entered in the opening round advanced in their original competitions.

Armenian clubs’ results in the first qualifying round

UEFA Champions League

Ararat-Armenia — Riga FC (Latvia): 4–3 on aggregate
Results: 2–0, 2–3
Contribution to Armenia’s UEFA coefficient: 0.250 points.

UEFA Conference League

Alashkert — Yelimay (Kazakhstan): 3–3 on aggregate
Results: 1–1, 2–2; Alashkert won 6–5 on penalties
Contribution to Armenia’s UEFA coefficient: 0.250 points.

Pyunik — Marsaxlokk (Malta): 4–0 on aggregate
Results: 3–0, 1–0
Contribution to Armenia’s UEFA coefficient: 0.500 points.

As a result, Armenian clubs earned a total of 1.000 points for Armenia in the UEFA coefficient rankings during the first qualifying round.

Second qualifying round ties

UEFA Champions League
Ararat-Armenia — Shamrock Rovers (Ireland).

UEFA Conference League
Noah — Zimbru (Moldova),
Alashkert — CFR Cluj (Romania),
Pyunik — Debrecen (Hungary).

The second qualifying round will begin next week. Ararat-Armenia will be the first Armenian club in action, hosting Shamrock Rovers in Yerevan on July 21.

The draw for the third qualifying round of the European competitions will take place on Monday, July 20.
