Spain confidently kicks off Futsal EURO 2026 with a dominant win over Slovenia

Spain's national team made a strong start to the 2026 UEFA Futsal European Championship, securing a confident 4–1 victory over Slovenia in their Group C opener. The match took place in Ljubljana and served as a clear demonstration of strength from Jesús Velasco’s side.
Just 25 seconds into the game, Antonio Pérez opened the scoring, stunning the Slovenians and setting the tone for the rest of the match. Spain continued to control the game, with goals from Mellado (6'), Raya (15'), and Gordillo (17') giving them a four-goal lead by halftime.
In the second half, Slovenia looked more organized and managed to delight the home fans with their first goal of the tournament — scored by Matej Fideršek in the 28th minute. However, they couldn’t turn the tide.
Following this match, Spain shares the lead in Group C with Belgium, who had previously defeated Belarus 4–0. The group standings are:

Futsal EURO 2026 is being held from January 21 to February 7 across three countries — Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovenia. The tournament has already delivered some surprises, including Armenia’s historic win in the first round.
In the next round, Spain will face Belarus, while Slovenia will try to bounce back against Belgium.
