In the 11th round of the Italian Serie A, Inter confidently defeated Lazio 2–0 at home. The Milan side scored one goal in each half. Lautaro Martínez opened the scoring, and in the second half, Ange-Yoan Bonny secured the result.
Cristian Chivu’s team controlled the match from the first minutes and hardly allowed the opponent to create dangerous chances. Inter could have increased the lead further, but Piotr Zieliński’s goal was disallowed after a VAR review due to Federico Dimarco’s handball.
The victory allowed the Nerazzurri to take advantage of their rivals' setbacks and move to the top of the table. Napoli unexpectedly lost to Bologna (0–2), and Milan drew with Parma (2–2).
Now Inter and Roma share first place with 24 points each. Milan and Napoli follow with 22 points.
It is worth noting that Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan continues his recovery from injury and missed the match against Lazio.
