Armenia national team striker Grant-Leon Ranos scored in his first appearance for Tenerife.
In the Matchday 8 Segunda División game against Córdoba, the Armenian forward came on in the 57th minute and scored his first goal for his new club just ten minutes later. In the 67th minute, Ranos equalized to make it 2-2.
However, Tenerife were unable to hold on for a draw. In the 77th minute, Isma Ruiz scored Córdoba’s third goal and secured a 3-2 victory for the hosts.
The match marked Ranos’ debut for Tenerife. The striker had missed the previous seven league rounds due to injury. The Armenian forward received a 7.5 rating from Sofascore for his performance.
Notably, the Córdoba vs Tenerife match was played almost simultaneously with the Nations League Montenegro vs Armenia fixture, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
Armenia have faced serious squad problems during the current international window, including a shortage of options in attack. Ranos also did not join the national team because of injury, but managed to recover during the international break and immediately found the net for his club.
Another Armenia international, Edgar Sevikyan, who plays for Ceuta, also featured in Spain the previous day. The midfielder came on as a substitute in the second half.
Sevikyan had been with the Armenia national team and played in the match against Cyprus, but picked up his second yellow card of the tournament and was suspended for the game against Montenegro. He subsequently returned to his club early and was able to take part in the next round of the Spanish championship.
