Today, October 5, the fourth day of the 2025 World Weightlifting Championships will take place in Førde, Norway. On this day, Armenian weightlifter Gor Sahakyan (up to 71 kg) — a two-time European champion and bronze medalist at the 2023 World Championships — will take the stage.
Previously, Sahakyan competed in the 67 kg category, where he won two European gold medals. Later, he moved up to the Olympic 73 kg class, where the competition was much tougher. Now, Gor will compete in a new category — up to 71 kg — which suits him better physically.
The Armenian lifter is considered one of the favorites of the tournament alongside reigning European champion Yusuf Fehmi Genc (Turkey). China’s He Yueji is also among the main contenders for gold.
