Armenian weightlifter Gor Minasyan, competing for the Bahrain national team, won the gold medal at the 2025 Islamic Games, confidently claiming victory in the +110 kg category. The athlete earned one large and two small gold medals, showcasing a dominant performance.
Minasyan set new Asian records both in the snatch and in the total, reaffirming his status as one of the strongest weightlifters in the world.
The closest contender for the title was 21-year-old Iraqi athlete Ali Rubayawi, who trailed Minasyan by only two kilograms and kept the battle for gold intense until the very end.
Final results of the +110 kg category:
Gor Minasyan (Bahrain) — 460 kg (213+247)
Ali Rubayawi (Iraq) — 458 kg (212+246)
Reza Hassanpour (Iran) — 425 kg (182+243)
It is worth noting that at the 2025 World Championships in October, Varazdat Lalayan (Armenia) became world champion with a total of 461 kg, while Minasyan finished second, lifting 447 kg.
