Pyunik Yerevan winger Gevorg Tarakhchyan has been called up to the Armenian national team. He is expected to replace the injured Vahan Bichakhchyan, who has already missed the last two matches of Legia Warsaw due to injury.
This is the second call-up to the senior national team for the 23-year-old player. The former captain of Armenia’s U21 team made his senior debut in a friendly match against Slovenia in 2024, spending 17 minutes on the pitch.
Tarakhchyan is having a strong season: in 10 matches for Pyunik in the Armenian Premier League, he has scored three goals and provided one assist. It’s worth noting that he also has experience working with the current head coach of the national team, Yeghishe Melikyan. Although brief, Tarakhchyan played for Pyunik under his management.
The Armenian national team will play two matches in November: on November 13, the team will host Hungary in Yerevan, and on November 16, they will travel to Porto, where they will face Portugal in the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
